wide receiver fantasies

I've accepted that Larry Fitzgerald catching passes for the 2008 Vikings is strictly the stuff of dreams. But if Donte' Stallworth becomes available, is that an impossible dream, too?

This is what I'll use to distract myself from deranged fantasies that D. J. Hackett is about to transform the Viking receiving corps.

I tend to think the Vikings should bite the bullet and commit themselves to paying significantly above market value for a quality wr, given that this is likely what it will take to get such a guy to commit to catching Tavaris Jackson's passes. If they are committed to seeing if Jackson can be an above average NFL qb, then it is incumbent that they get some receiving talent which gives Jackson a decent opportunity to accomplish this. As long as they don't strongly suspect that Stallworth would be the sort of guy who would just go belly up upon getting a large bonus, then they oughta' open the cash register and take a flyer on him. He wouldn't have been on the field as much as he was for the Pats if he wasn't able to run disciplined routes, which is very important in Childress' offense.

Also, I saw it reported that Troy Williamson is only getting about 800k in salary in the last year of his contract, and at that price they may as well keep him for the last season, unless somebody comes out of nowhere to have a stunning training camp.

Stallworth wouldn't be much of an upgrade, he spends about 3/4 of his time hurt.
Williamson HAS to go, the only way I'd keep him on my team is if he paid the Vikings $1 million to be on the team, then I'd let him be inactive for every game. The kid can't catch, which seems to me to be a pretty important part of being a WR.
The Vikes should blow AZ out of the water with an offer for Fitzgerald, amazing receiver, MN roots and a great addition to the team.

  4. Al Harris can now be dismissed with one simple word: "Plaxico."
