Favre

OK, think about it this way. Quarterback X has won MVPs, has set passing records, has won a lot of games, and is still playing at a very high level. Your favorite team is really good at every position except quarterback, perhaps dominant if they get a competent veteran quarterback. Would you want Quarterback X to join the team?

Me too.

Says Kevin Seiftert: "It is almost common knowledge that Favre wants to play for the Vikings."

I have a weird feeling this is happening. Favre is stubborn, and in this situation he does have some leverage. If he wants to force the issue to end up on the team he wants to, he just might.

My soul is twisting around, ready to snap in two.

I'm feeling the same way. I wrote a little piece to try and help.

"Brett Favre and a Dr. Phil Moment" over at Vikings Valhalla.

I have a feeling of inevitability and we as fans need to think about dealing with it.

NoNoNoNo! That same QB X also holds the records for INTs, has a history of losing in the post-season, and will be a distraction to a well-oiled, good chemistry locker room.

Dilfer, BJ, Eli... none of them are Hall of Fame caliber. T-Jax worked with BB all off-season. We can and will go to the show with TJ at the helm.

anyone arguing brett favre would be a detriment to a ball club hasn't been paying attention the last 16 years. most wins by a franchise since FA began, 4 nfc championship appearances, 12 play off wins, 2 super bowls. that on a team with ever shifting teammates and coaches, through ups and downs and rebuilding years. that for a franchise that had won 1 playoff game and had 3 winning seasons in the previous 25 years.

that's why as a die hard packer fan i hope brett goes to the vikings. he'd have a defense and a running game and he'd make the receivers good enough. i think they'd get close with him, maybe win it all, as i thought the pack were going to do this year.

  4. (I would write a post about this, but for some reason Blogger has me on temporary hold thinking I might be a spam blog. It might have something to do with this being our 1,000th post--and when I started this blog, I never dreamed my 1,000th post would be about whether or not Brett Favre would be a Viking).

I was thinking about Tarvaris Jackson, and various reports that he's been inconsistent in practice. But I realized, Jackson is daily going against a defense that many of us believe will be among the best in the league. Can we assess his 16 game regular season performance based on that? I don't think so.

  5. I think this is one of those things where as a franchise, you'd have to suck up your pride if you are truly interested in winning a Super Bowl. He'd be a rent a player, but he gives you a better chance to get there than anyone currently on the roster.

Everyone would have to be sold on a "this is the year" type deal. And if Jackson gets a happy Favre, maybe he can learn a few things and be really ready next season.
