To quote a caveman: "Ah, what?"

In The Star Tribune, Zygi Wilf has this to say about fan reaction to the Vikings' struggles:

"The fans are great here. I don't think there is a lot of frustration. I think there is a lot of patience, and I just hope we can reward them with more and more victories sooner rather than later."

I don't pretend to have my finger on the pulse of all the hornheads, but Zygi is willfully blind if he thinks there is no frustration among Viking fans. The team could barely (and really didn't) sell out the opener. The team played against the Packers, and many, many Packer fans were able to get tickets that Viking fans didn't want. And certainly Viking fans that communicate on the internet have been expressing frustration.

There's hope among Viking fans. A lot of us are thrilled with the potential of Adrian Peterson and Sidney Rice. We recognize that the team has been competitive in all its games, and that they may be very close to taking a step up. And we love the defense. But clearly, there's "a lot of frustration" among most Viking fans.

  1. Yea the stock in Fire Childress Now guy just dropped 50%.From what I can tell that line of Ziggys was the one that cracked the crowd up where he was speaking.
What scares me is the fact old Chilly might be around even if we go 1-15.Ziggy believes Chilly is the Future coach to come.
This just might be a long Decade for Vike fans.

Chilly is doing exactly what ziggy wants. Losing ugly, and boring, to expedit the vikes exodus to balmy L.A.

I read today the buccaneers were asking about mckinnie and taylor. I'd trade both, immediately, for a first round pick or a second and third. Yes, it would cost us 15 mill on next years cap. But zygi wouldn't have to extend anyone to reach the cap minimum like this year, and we'd be rid of a functional but pedestrian running back and an overpaid bum who quit trying the instant his contract was extended.

  3. The idea that the Vikings are trying to lose in order to relocate is stupid. Sorry, it just is. The team can (and can only) relocate when the Dome lease runs up in 2011. Whether they win or lose they can (and if they could do it before then, McCombs already would have done it). If they lose purposely, they're sucking and losing all sorts of money between now and then. Besides, I doubt most of the people in the organization would risk their reputations with such shenanigans.

I can't believe I actually responded to that.

  4. Just to be clear: I'm calling that idea stupid, not you stupid (I'm trying to be a peaceful person, not attempting to insult you. I just don't think the idea has an logic to it).

  5. PV the Vikes can buy out there expected income from 08-2011 to the Met.With seats not selling out something think about.
Any lease can be broken and if remember Mcombs days he tried that angle too.Just was too much for the tightwad to part with.
Ziggy wants a new Staduim and you got to admit city of Minny aint excactly trying help.If they raised the price of Toilet Paper by 15 cents a roll in Minny that Staduim could be built. That way no one can complain that Taxes was diverted to build and everyone would contribute fairly.

Are you telling me the Vikes are honestly trying to win? Peterson gets like two carries in the second half against GB and you want to say we were trying to win it?

Maybe they intend to stay, and Chilly convinced Zygi the way to achieve his long term consistency or whatever he called it is to draft 7th 5 or 6 years in a row to establish your team. Or Chilly wants his QB of the future, Holcumb, to gain valuable passing experience for our playoff push later this year, or next. This team is obviously not playing to win this year, and disgusting the fans to the point the lease can be bought out is the most likely explanation I see. And thanks, by the way, for maintaining the site. It's nice to be able to talk Vikes with other fans.

  8. I would like to think that poor 2 minute training, lack of a decent QB and some iffy play calling is the reason.
Ziggy is not worried about the sell out streak ending.
We might as well see what T.J. can do with a little bench time under his belt now.
