Dear Sports Illustrated:

This is neither a truth nor a rumor. It is just a terrible sportswriter saying things.

Is the Vikings apparent quarterback situation or lack of a sufficient quaterback situation, the only open wound in the NFL this off season? Who is coming out of retirement next, Fran Tarkenton or Joe Kapp?

Or, we can all engage in another hypothetical story like these fellows did. Maybe the Vikes will trade for Tom Brady or Peyton Manning in July; that would be fun. If we are engaging in non factual fantasy topics.

  3. Maybe the Vikes should concentrate on re-signing Antoine Winfield, who actually is a lock to play for the Vikings, and for more than one year, too.

  4. Since the end of the season, list of people linked to the Vikings' starting QB job in 2009:

    Tarvaris Jackson
    Gus Frerotte
    Brett Favre
    Derek Anderson
    Michael Vick
    Jay Cutler
    Matt Cassel
    Byron Leftwich
    Jeff Garcia
    Matt Hasselbeck
    Jeff George(!)

    Who have I missed?

You missed at least Sage Rosenfels.

But I for one would love to see Michael Vick as a Vikings. With Bryant and Phil as our tackles, we can protect either a lefty or a righty's blind side. And Michael Vick is unbelievably talented.

So he killed some dogs. I think 18 months in prison should be enough to satisfy us that he paid his debt to society... Oh and he's also awesome at football.

  6. Eh, Vick never lived up to his potential. He's not fast enough to outrun NFL players, and he doesn't have the accuracy to throw deep.

You're right that he's paid for his crime, I just don't think he's an upgrade from Rosenfels or even Frerotte. Especially with Childress and Bevel's playcalling.

Not fast enough? Did we forget him running BY the Vikings for the win?

  8. Vick is certainly fast enough to outrun NFL players; that's how he ran for 1,000 yards as a quarterback. He's an extremely fast and talented runner.

Where he never really developed was as a passer; his completion percentage has always been below average. That's the main reason I wouldn't want him as the Viking quarterback.

Why not write about he NBA sometimes? Probably cuz DAvid Stern has not given you permission? He controls it all, including the outcomes. Boring league.
