Brad Childress Sucks.

The Vikings are on their way to losing their fourth consecutive game to the Packers. That's two straight seasons of sweeps. Two teams that always play each other close, and Brad Childress is on his way to leading the Vikings to four straight defeats to their biggest rival.

Brooks Bollinger sucks. Kelly Holcomb sucks. Tarvaris Jackson sucks. These are all QBs that joined the Vikings since Childress became head coach.

So here we are, down 20-0 in the 3rd quarter with no passing game whatsoever. Assuming the rest of the game goes as this has (and since we have no passing game, why wouldn't it?), Brad Childress has never beaten the team's biggest rival. In four tries. Two straight years of sweeps.

In college, that's enough to get a coach fired.

I cannot agree more with that assessment. Brad Childress is single handily driving this franchise into the ground. He is awful. Anyone performing this poorly at their job would get fired. We are being SHUT OUT with the best running back in the game. We do not look like we have a game plan at all. None of the players look prepared for this game at all. Watching the Vikings makes me want to vomit and I cannot believe I am saying that after such a brilliant game last week. This is just typical for a Minnesota Sports fan.

  2. OH EM GEE. Can we just fire him already and bring in someone who wants to win? I mean seriously with the calls they make you really really really have to scratch your head and wonder if they just want to make the fans grind their eyeballs out with wooden spoons.

You are forgetting, we have the T-wolves and Gopher football to pull for. These two make the Vikes tolerable right now. (At least there is potential on the Wolves)

I'll tell you why the Vikings suck. Brad Childress. He has a "My way or the Highway" approach, and that way used to work in the 60's and 70's to some degree... but in 2007... players just don't respond. I used to be a fan of the vikings from my first game I saw in 1974 all the way through about Brad Childress's first 6 games and I just ended my loyalties. Done. Bud Grant ruled in the 70's and part of the 80's and it's no wonder my new favorite team, now the USC Trojans are so incredible: Pete Carroll has said a big part of his coaching philosophy he got from Bud Grant when Pete used to be the D-Backs coach for the Vikings in the Mid 80's. He learned how to study a game, and how to get the best out of his players by watching Bud Grant. In case people out there wonder why the USC Trojans are so awesome it's because Bud Grant's Legacy was one of inspiring and thoughtful coaching. Not some bald douschebag's pathetic demands for accountability and discipline like the warden in Shawshank Redemption. Childress will be remembered as another legendary Coach we Vikings fans remember with a rumble in our bowels: Les Steckel. Please... Bud Grant, the Viking ship is headed for the Iceburg...can't you grab the wheel and do something? Sometimes Mutiny is a brilliant strategy!

    Hey, don't forget Mike McMahon!

Folks, the problem with Brad Childress begins and ends with the names, Tavaris Jackson, Mike McMahon, Brooks Bollinger, Kelly Holcomb, Billy McMullen, Bobby Wade, and Robert Ferguson. Not Childress' "approach", and not his playcalling. His problem is that he filled his roster, in regards to the passing game, with guys who should not be on a NFL roster. The only way he should be considered for another year is if he privately told his superiors last winter, after the Super Bowl, that neither Jackson or Bollinger could help a team get to eight or nine wins, nor could the receivers on the roster, but they couldn't attract a Garcia, and without a decent qb they couldn't attract any decent receivers. I doubt that this is what happened.

Childress is a pathetic excuse for a coach, if you can call him that. He is officially worse than Les Steckel. I never thought I would see it. Steckel didn't have much talent, and his teams played hard. He was fired after only one year. That was the reason we had pretty good teams from '86-'89. Childress needs to go now. He cannot be given another year. Otherwise it could be another 5 years before this team is decent. He will destroy this team. I dream of Tice.

No, Les Steckel's team did not play hard, at least not in the 2nd half of that season. They quit, and the scores reflected it. We will see if Childress gets the same treatment.

I have never been this resolved in my desire for a new coach then now and I remember the days of Les Steckel.
    Hire Marty Schottenheimer !!

What we should remember is that a lot of things have happened since the current ownership group has taken over. Does anyone remember Reggie Fowler? He was the point guy for Wilf's group to purchase the team, and when it was exposed that the former Little League World Series and former football player wasn't exactly financially capable to be an NFL owner, some of his silent partners stepped up to complete the sale. Remember this every time Zygi mentions Randy Moss and how that darn Red tricked him. Moss was traded before Fowler was found financially inept to own a team. Now, Wilf and his buddies were already on board for the sale, and when he says he wouldn't have approved of the Moss trade, and if he was as passionate about that stance that he suddenly seems to be, I guess a guy who has scored more TD's than your entire offense will probably make you feel like saying I am with you fans-- I hated Moss going to. I wonder why he didn't mention Moss while Randy was floundering in Oakland....... Anyway, back to subject, Wilf tried to use Blaine as leverage to get a sweeter deal from Minneapolis, and all his plans for development in Blaine were just as credible as his Moss talk. I would imagine that the movie Major League has been whirring in the DVD player for the past couple years. Create complete apathy, and a move elsewhere is easily sold to a league that isn't too high on its teams moving, unless of course, it's financially impossible to stay in a certain city. Create apathy by hiring the most incompetent out there, and insist the team is going in the right direction, which apparently is probably LA. Wilf will fire Childress, but won't do it until the move is complete. Then it will be win at all costs, to win over our new Southern California fan base, and we can't go on with a guy who is inept in order to woo the new constituents.

Okay, so we lost again on Monday, September 8th 2008. Once again I blame the coaches. And not just Brad Childress; in fact, I believe this game falls on the shoulders of the offensive cordinator. Lets look at it this way... Adrian Peterson; a bull-well kinda, but that comes when he gains speed; Adrian Peterson can be a bull, but we have to take him outside, and give him that chance to find running room. Adrian is fast, and can pull off some pretty nice moves. Noo if any of the coaches could figure that out.... we pass, and then that opens up the run game, because guess what... The other team will be expecting a pass, and we run it right past them. I never have understood why coaches in the NFL always make coaching so complicated. Jeez. Stupid jocks, literally. (That is a stereotype, and it was ver bad of me to use it. Bud god **** it!)

Watching this game against the Colts was kind of like watching someone bleed to death. What a painful painful game to watch. How in the world calls like ten roll out passes per game? Everyone in the builing knew it was coming! Can we please put Gus in the game? At least the coaches would have some confidence to call some more passing plays. The Viking are so predictable. How frustrating must it be for the defense. I think the only way we'll win a game this year is if we shut the opponent out!

  14. Brad needs to go on to a college level defensive line coach because he doesn't have what ti takes to lead such a powerful team. He is the last in the league for coaches approval rating at 8% why are they keeping this george bush of coaches around give him the good ole purple n gold boot..

  16. Brad Childress is a pussy. He is nothing more than Brett Favre's chauffeur. Any coach who let's a player walk all over him, like Favre has walked over Childress, should be fired on the spot, no discussion. Vikings management lacks any balls, as they are tolerating this abortion when they fail to take action. The Vikings started this year with, probably, the best team in football, on paper, from top to bottom. This year is a major example why the Vikings will NEVER win a championship. Loaded with talent, but also bunch of punks, no discipline, lousy coaching and dysfunctional management.

  17. Yeah, so what Brad Childress sucks. I still pull for my Team. Im in Florida and the Vikes do get some respect around here. But one thing that is a pretty big laugh is the Golden Gopher Football Program. Man, what a nice stadium. Man what a Si**y team. I saw some downright stupid plays called from Brewster or Brewsters team. Not only the play calls but what about the basics??? Clock Management? So embarrassing to be a fan abroud in SEC country. I cant believe the boosters & Alumni dont demand some changes? Iowa, Wisconsin, they are doping it? Hell, South Dakota did it? Get Better.
