I saw what I needed from Greg Camarillo: he's an ideal possession receiver. He's got reliable hands and he can find open spots in the field. The Vikings now have three reliable go-to receivers for third down: Camarillo, Percy Harvin, and Visanthe Shiancoe. When they find themselves in 3rd and 8, Favre will find open receivers that can catch the ball. The Vikes will be fine offensively.
I think alot of the struggles last night were either fluke plays (the Berrian pick), "trying out new things" (the Favre sack and fumble, the second Favre pick, some of the early forced throws to Walker). I think Adrian Peterson looks faster and more explosive than he did last year. If he can play to his talent, which means play like an all-time great, then the offense should be improved from last year.

I agree with your assessment of Camarillo. He caught everything that was thrown at him, and looked to be a favorite target of Favre despite limited reps together. Some of that had to be to see what Camarillo could do in a gamesituation, but he caught the ball and made the play. That's more than you can say about Walker.
ReplyDeletethere were some moments to give vike's fans some chills last night. The pressure on favre was more than should have been permissible and the frequent burning of the defensive secondary ought to scare vikes fans. If that happened against a team as pathetic as the seabags, imagine, if you dare, what awaits us when we play someone who is actually good, e.g., the Packers?
