note: comments from the game are in the comments. Here is where you can leave your complaints and rants. Or perhaps you've just given up and you're taking this with calm resignation.
If you're going to be a run-and-play-defense team, you have a thin margin for error; two fumbles giving the ball to the opponent in your own territory is terrible. It can't happen for this team.
That Bernard Berrian drop is just torture. What happened to the proud Viking tradition at WR? So many great throws just dropped.
And why do NFL teams make clock management look so difficult? Bill Walsh said the Niners with Montana were so good in two-minute offense because they practiced it all the time. And don't you have to? End of half and end of game clock management comes up so often.
Obvious mistakes are the reason the Vikes are down right now. Two drops, two fumbles (giving the Titans the ball in Viking territory), a missed field goal. The Vikes are down 10, but they can move the ball and are still in this game. They just shouldn't be down this much.
I will never understand why for the Vikings 3rd and 1 is a pass down. Why? You seriously have a better shot throwing 15 yards downfield than you have lining up with AP and running it?
These penalties are also bad: 1st and 15 takes the Vikes away from getting it to AP.
And to finish it off, we get an ineffective trying-to-win-the-game drive that needs to go 98 yards, Tarvaris Jackson holding onto the ball and taking sacks, and a completely gutless punt designed to keep the point differential lower, not win the game.
Yes, I'm getting rather tired of being a Viking fan.
Let's start a list of players who suck today.
ReplyDeleteCedric Griffin: he's the guy tackling the wide open WR after he catches it over and over again.
Naufahu Tahi: his fumble basically destroyed the Vikings' first drive before it could start and gave the Titans a short field.
I'd add Bernard Berrian for a drop and a badly blown block, but he redeemed himself with a nice downfield catch.
ReplyDeleteThe Vikes can throw on the Titans. That's encouraging.
I always had a Randy Moss touchdown dance. I just did an Adrian Peterson touchdown dance. My son enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteAdrian Peterson is some sort of demigod--that was a beautiful TD run.

ReplyDeleteIt's time for me to continue a great Minnesota sports fan tradition: these refs fucking suck.

Fuck you Vikings. You make me believe, then you come out and fumble three times. I'm sick of this shit.
ReplyDeleteWe have to thank Gus for taking a helmet right to the balls and giving the Vikes an easier chance for a TD.
