I think that in general, the company is not that bad. The problem I had was with the manager of one of the locations. He was extremely rude and incompetent. I have no idea who hired him. I filed a complaint on this great site www.pissedconsumer.com. Look it through for other reports.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23140411.post-1162569239866491192006-11-03T09:53:00.000-06:002006-11-03T09:53:00.000-06:00That's probably the right association: "Man up" mi...That's probably the right association: "Man up" might mean "act like an adult," but to act like an adult is implicitly understood to mean "act like a man." Men are supposed to be serious, strong, responsible--for boys to start acting like men means to put aside frivolity, weakness, and irresponsibility. That's why "act like a man" and "act like a lady" mean two very different things.Pacifist Vikinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16630996018868040440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23140411.post-1162566046627148462006-11-03T09:00:00.000-06:002006-11-03T09:00:00.000-06:00Yet, isnt there a whole history of basically sayin...Yet, isnt there a whole history of basically saying that boys are more feminine and thus to man up and be more adult is in a way to say stop being feminine?Blue Viking Devilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04816148189650832893noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23140411.post-1162564544285139502006-11-03T08:35:00.000-06:002006-11-03T08:35:00.000-06:00That's a fair interpretation--indeed, the point of...That's a fair interpretation--indeed, the point of "man up" can mean "be an adult," not "don't be a girl." I suppose you'd have to ask each person who ever uses that expression whether he means act more masculine or act more adult.Pacifist Vikinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16630996018868040440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23140411.post-1162531710432970382006-11-02T23:28:00.000-06:002006-11-02T23:28:00.000-06:00Good post...but I disagree w/ you, Johnathan Weile...Good post...but I disagree w/ you, Johnathan Weiler, and Greenie in this instance. "Man up" does not imply that you shouldn't be a woman. It means you shouldn't be a boy. It means to act like an adult and handle your responsibilities rather than shy away from them.insomniachttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02968135877475135480noreply@blogger.com
